Junior Ballet Classes — Studio Wolfe Cork

Junior ballet class for ages 5 to 9 at Studio Wolfe Cork

Junior Ballet Classes in Cork (Ages 5–9)

Studio Wolfe offers Junior Ballet classes in Cork for children aged 5–9, giving your child the gift of poise, posture, coordination and confidence. Our classes follow the IDTA Ballet syllabus, introducing classical ballet techniques in a fun, imaginative, and supportive environment.

Children explore basic ballet positions, gentle jumps, balance, skipping, and movement games, all designed to build strength, coordination, and musicality. Playful props like wands, crowns, butterfly wings, and ribbons make learning creative and exciting, ensuring each child enjoys their ballet journey from the very first class.

Classes gradually introduce structured barre and centre work, basic ballet vocabulary, and simple combinations, while keeping the focus on fun, engagement, and confidence-building. All levels are welcome — from those with little or no experience to children ready to build on their existing skills.

Junior Ballet — your questions

What age group is Junior Ballet for?

Junior Ballet is designed for children aged 5–9, building a strong foundation in classical ballet technique. It's a lovely complement to our Junior Level 1 and Junior Level 2 classes.

What should my child wear to Junior Ballet class?

Junior Ballet has a specific uniform — ballet shoes, leotard and tights. For new students, we recommend attending a few classes in comfortable clothing before purchasing the full uniform, which is sold in studio on our regular uniform shop dates.

How long is each Junior Ballet class, and what's covered?

Each class runs for one hour, once a week during term. Classes reinforce the fundamentals of classical ballet through traditional barre work, centre practice and progressions across the floor.

Where is Junior Ballet held?

Junior Ballet runs exclusively at our Studio Wolfe Douglas studios, home to our purpose-built ballet studio. Check times and availability using the booking timetable on this page. If we're not currently open for new students, you can join our waitlist.

Do Junior Ballet students take ballet exams?

Yes — students have the option to take IDTA (International Dance Teachers' Association) ballet examinations once a year, when their teacher feels they are well prepared. Exams are always optional, but many dancers find them a rewarding way to mark their progress. Students typically progress into Intermediate & Senior Ballet as they get older.

How do I enrol my child in Junior Ballet?

When enrolment is open, book through the timetable on this page or the Book Now button in the menu. If classes are full or enrolment is closed, use our enquiry form to join the waiting list.
