Our Junior Level 1 dance classes in Cork are an exciting and captivating introduction to performing arts for boys and girls aged 5–6 (Junior & Senior Infants). Perfect for energetic children with big imaginations, these classes are the ideal next step after our Little Stars programme — or for children starting dance for the first time. Classes are available at all three Studio Wolfe locations: Douglas, Donnybrook and Blarney, making it easy for your child to join in the fun close to home.
Fun, Creative, and Engaging Classes
Each 45-minute class is packed with dance games, warm-ups, choreographed routines, and fun props like wands, crowns, wings, ribbons, scarves, and beanbags. Children explore Modern Theatre Jazz and Musical Theatre set to popular chart music and musical selections they love, learning real dance skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Build Confidence, Friendships, and Performance Skills
Junior Level 1 dancers develop coordination, balance, creativity, and musicality, while also gaining the confidence to perform. These classes help shy children come out of their shell, make new friends, and experience the joy of movement.
Students also have the opportunity to perform in prestigious showcases, including Dance Extravaganza at MTU Arena and Cork Opera House shows, giving them their first taste of the magic of performing on a real stage.

A Pathway for Growing Dancers
Junior Level 1 is just the beginning. Students naturally progress to Junior Level 2, Intermediate, and Senior dance classes, with further opportunities to join our musical theatre groups, dance teams, and performance projects as they grow.

What age group is Junior Level 1 Dance for?
Junior Level 1 is our first-level dance class for children aged 5–6, typically in Junior and Senior Infants. It's the natural next step after Little Stars, and no prior dance experience is required.
What should my child wear to their first Junior Level 1 class?
To start with, comfortable clothing is perfect — leggings and a t-shirt work great. We sell the official Junior Level 1 dance uniform in studio, with several uniform shop dates throughout the year so you can pick it up once your child is settled in.
How long is each Junior Level 1 class, and what's covered?
Each class runs for 45 minutes, once a week during term. Classes are based in Modern Theatre Jazz and Musical Theatre, introducing children to technique, rhythm, coordination and simple choreography. We use age-appropriate music from the charts, favourite movies (think Disney) and popular TV shows — there's always a sing-along in the mix.

Does my child need previous dance experience to join?
No — Junior Level 1 is completely beginner-friendly. It's the natural starting point for children stepping up from Little Stars or beginning dance for the very first time.
