Inter & Senior Ballet Classes — Studio Wolfe Cork
About This Class
Inter & Senior Ballet Classes in Cork (Ages 10–18)
Studio Wolfe offers Intermediate and Senior Ballet classes in Cork for students aged 10–18 years, whether they are new to ballet or already confident in their training. Our programme combines technical development, artistic expression, and confidence-building, helping young dancers grow with poise and joy.
Our classes follow a structured curriculum that emphasises body placement, strength, balance, alignment, and classical technique through both barre and centre floor work. Dancers are introduced to more complex movement including turns, pirouettes, leaps, and character steps, while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere where enjoyment and expression are always part of the learning experience.
Professional Ballet Training with a Creative Twist
At Studio Wolfe, ballet training is both formal and fun — students learn correct classical technique while exploring movement in ways that are engaging and inspiring. Our experienced teachers bring their professional performance backgrounds into every class, ensuring dancers develop strong technique, musicality, and dynamic stage presence.
We also follow the IDTA Ballet syllabus, providing clear progression pathways for students who wish to deepen their training. Ballet exams are optional but encouraged, recognising students' hard work and achievement.
Pointe Work & Next Steps
Pointe work is offered only when students are technically ready, ensuring a safe, strong foundation before progressing. Teachers assess readiness based on strength, alignment, and consistent technique, so dancers can transition to pointe with confidence.

Intermediate & Senior Ballet — your questions
What age group is Intermediate & Senior Ballet for?
Our Intermediate and Senior Ballet classes cover ages 10–18. Students are placed in the appropriate level based on age, experience and readiness, and typically progress up from Junior Ballet.
What should my student wear to class?
Ballet has a specific uniform — ballet shoes (and pointe shoes, when ready), leotard and tights. Uniform is sold in studio at our regular uniform shop dates. For new students, we recommend attending a few classes in comfortable dancewear before purchasing.
How long is each class, and what's covered?
Each class runs for one hour, once a week during term. Training emphasises placement, flexibility, turnout, barre work, centre practice and — for senior students who are ready — pointe work.
Where is Intermediate & Senior Ballet held?
Classes run exclusively at our Studio Wolfe Douglas studios, in our dedicated ballet studio. Check times and availability using the booking timetable on this page. If we're not open for new students, you can join our waitlist.
When do students go en pointe?
Pointe work is introduced only when a teenage dancer is physically ready — strength, alignment and technique are carefully assessed by the teacher before any pointe training begins. This protects dancers from injury and ensures every student has the foundations they need before going up on the box.
How do I enrol in Intermediate or Senior Ballet?
When enrolment is open, book through the timetable on this page or via the Book Now button in the menu. If classes are full or enrolment is closed, use our enquiry form to join the waiting list.
