Acro Dance Classes — Studio Wolfe Cork

Acro dance class for ages 7 to 18 at Studio Wolfe Cork

Acro Dance Classes in Cork – Junior, Intermediate & Secondary

Acro is one of the most dynamic and exciting styles in dance — a blend of fluid dance movement with tumbling, balancing and controlled contortion, all set to music. Unlike gymnastics, which relies on apparatus like beams and vaults, Acro builds strength and flexibility straight into the choreography, weaving acrobatic tricks directly into expressive routines. As dancers progress they master skills like cartwheels, walkovers, aerials (no-handed cartwheels) and partner lifts, learning to move with power, grace and control.

It's a brilliant all-rounder for growing bodies. Acro develops core and upper-body strength, flexibility, balance and coordination, while building the body awareness and confidence that carry into every other dance style — and into everyday life. Every skill is taught progressively, starting with safe foundations before any advanced tricks are introduced, so children build genuine ability step by step. Classes at Studio Wolfe are designed for ages 5–18 and grouped by stage, from our brand-new Junior Acro class for 5–6 year-olds right up to performance-level seniors.

Acro Dance — your questions

What age group is Acro Dance for?

Acro Dance is open to dancers aged 5–18, grouped into age-appropriate classes. It combines dance technique with controlled acrobatic elements and pairs beautifully with any of our other dance classes.

What should my child wear to Acro Dance class?

We do have an official Acro uniform, but to start, a t-shirt with shorts or leggings is absolutely fine.

How long is each Acro class, and what's covered?

Each class runs for one hour, once a week during term. Classes combine dance technique with acrobatic skills — balances, tumbling, handstands and controlled contortion elements — all taught progressively with a focus on safety and strength.

Where are Acro Dance classes held?

Acro Dance runs exclusively at our Studio Wolfe Douglas studios, which has the sprung flooring and matting needed for safe acrobatic training. Check times and availability using the booking timetable on this page. If we're not open for new students, join our waitlist.

Is Acro Dance safe for beginners?

Yes — Acro is taught progressively, starting with fundamentals like strength, flexibility and body control before any advanced tricks are introduced. Our qualified Acro teachers follow recognised safety standards and build every skill step by step — we believe in a safe, structured curriculum rather than skipping steps for a finished product.

How do I enrol my child in Acro Dance?
